29 year old in desperate need
of help with student loans
 |
Hi, I am a 29 year old in need of help. I
started working when I was 15 years old. I
graduated from high school and went straight to
college. Everything was getting more and more
expensive, so I went to find a second job to try to
get me through college. I was doing everything I
could to avoid being in debt, but as you can imagine,
my grades started to suffer. After this
happened, I decided to go to a seasonal position at
one of my jobs, but this of course caused the same
problems for me, so I again couldn't afford it.
After struggling to make it through, I finally did,
and received a degree. Then to get into my field
I was very low with experience which made it almost
impossible to get a job. I had asked many
friends and family if they knew anyone who could help
me out to get a job. Some of these people were
in higher positions and still were unable to help.
I kept working and searching for a way to get
experience and came across a way that would help me
out a lot. |
 |
The problem was that I had to move to a different
state, far away from my family and friends. Of
course this caused two problems. One was that I
no longer had a free place to stay with my parents,
the other is that I had to pay for my training and
room and board to get this experience. All that
time trying to avoid debt, and I had no choice.
For training and living expenses (now with no job) I
had to get a loan out for $52,000. This was only
compounded with the high interest rate and deferred
payments until I could get enough money to pay for it.
The total debt for this "higher education"
loan no increased to $55,740. I also had to use
my credit cards to help pay for food, hygiene products,
and utilities. Totally this came out to about
$67,000. I finished all the training and got the
experience I needed and moved back home. I
applied to many companies and did not get a job still. |
 | About one month later
a friend said he can get me a job temporarily until I
was hired into my field. I took the job making
$8.00/hour. Five months later I received a call
and was asked to go to an interview, which I accepted.
Consequently I was offered the job and I gladly
accepted. The next day I was in a car accident,
a lady had run a red light and totaled my vehicle.
The insurance company paid me very little, and since I
was already so far in debt, I was unable to get myself
a decent vehicle. I did manage to buy a 16 year
old car that has given me nothing but problems and
will not pass the safety inspection required by state
law. |
 | My job pays $24,000 a
year now and I struggle to make all my payments which
now total up to around $76,000 with the interest still
adding on to it. I still work and I don't go out
to do anything for 2 years now because I just can't
afford it. Any donations will go straight to
paying off this enormous debt. Won't you please
help? Any amount will help me move forward with
my life and move out on my own instead of struggling
and still living at home. I appreciate your
generosity. I would like to thank you in advance
for anything you may be able to give to help.
Thank you and may all good things come your way.
