Not About Loans and Credit Card Debt, but a
CAR!!!
 |
I’ll keep this as short as I can. I am a student,
and I need your help. Badly. And believe it or not,
it’s not the student loan or even credit card debt
that I’m asking for help with. Refreshing that I
want to pay my own bill, isn’t it? No, this plea is
for $8000 for a vehicle so that I can actually get to
the job to make the money to pay off the loan by
myself. |
 |
My ‘97 KIA Sportage was stolen right out of my
parking lot on June 20th, 2008. It wasn’t the best
car in the world; I’ll be the first to tell you
that. It bucked and jerked when you hit the gas, the
engine light was always on, it never had a radio of
any kind that worked, and the engine would cut-off
whenever I was sitting at a light for more than a few
seconds…or while I was in the middle of driving on
the highway to class. |
 |
Sure it was a lousy car, but it took nearly a year to
scrounge up enough money to buy it, and because my
commute often takes me through the mountain passes of
Washington State and back again, I need another SUV
that will be reliable enough to make that trek. |
 |
$8000 sounds like a lot, but look at it like this; a
small city has more than 8000 people working in it. If
those 8000 people donated just one single dollar
each—-less than the price of pack of Twinkies and
much less than a gallon of gas—-it wouldn’t hurt
your expenses, and I wouldn’t be in the worst
Catch-22 of the century. Heck, if 2000 people donated
$4, that would be even better. Anyway, you get the
gist. |

I’m not asking for help with paying my student loan.
Everyone asks for help with that. It's big, but I want
to pay it myself. I am only asking for a way to make
the money to pay my own student loan, and my own
bills. The car doesn’t need to be brand new, just
another little rinky-dink SUV to get me back on track.
But decent SUV’s are still pretty pricey out here,
and at $8000 to ensure that I can get a moderately ok
and reliable vehicle, can afford the tags, license
plates, emissions testing, and to ensure that this
next one has proper security features (I was thinking
of maybe buying a ninja and keeping him in my
backseat…), I just can’t afford another one, and I
can’t afford to blow this chance at a job. So, care
to help out a chick that got ripped off by some
mindless jerks and wants to make her own way in the
world? Every little bit will help me towards my goal! |
 |
Well, thanks for letting me suck up a few minutes of
your time. By all means, feel free to slip this link
in an email to your friends. Really. You can. The
ninja thing at least made you think I was crazy, and
passing the word along would be so terrific! And
anyway, being nice gives you tax write-offs!! Thanks
again! |
