We are a family of six, my husband is a mechanic and works from home. I home school our three older children that all have varying degrees of ADD, while they all started in public school each had learning difficulties with reading and repeated a grade in primary school.

I have to travel to the city every three months for our forth child to attend medical and therapy clinics which usually has me away from five to twelve days at a time. She was born with generalized hypotonia which basically means her muscles have low tone.

She was in Neonatal ICU for her first five and a half weeks. Once she came out she started attending an Orthopedics Clinic for club feet, Neurology clinic because she had a seizure at three weeks, Neonatal to coordinate clinics, physiotherapy to strengthen her muscles and infant stimulation therapy.

She is now over two years old and is very close to walking but has to wear an AFO brace on her feet to maintain the correction of her club feet. Also she has a brace for her back because she developed scoliosis, this has to be custom made and as she grows will need to be replaced (roughly every two years).

She has had many tests including genetic, pyruvic and lactic acid test, CT scans, MRI,  muscle and nerve stimulation test all of which came back normal. This means we do not have a diagnosis of what happened and what future issues maybe.

She does not have facial expression which originally affected her feeding and now her speech, she cannot say sound that require her mouth to completely close.

She is a joy and  a blessing to us and continues to improve, every couple of weeks to a month there is something else she is doing. It is amazing to me what she has had to overcome in her life already. 

With all this said, this has been financial draining to our family and we still have a long road to go. The expense of the traveling every three months and always one of the clinics whats a new test done.

We used our credit card, loan from the bank and we our the hospital for the MRI done last year. We are now at the point of  which bill's to pay, to buy groceries or loan payment to make.
