Almost Homeless!!!
 |
As a young child, I grew up in a poverty stricken
neighborhood in a tiny little house infested with
rodents. I was so fearful of them I could never sleep
at night. I vowed to never live this way when I became
an adult. After becoming an adult most of my goals
were put on hold. Because of a bad marriage, I was
forced to raise three small children all alone. If
that was not enough, three of my dearest family
members were murdered in my home. We were placed in
the witness protection program and sent to another
state to live. After several years we returned home to
live in my sister's basement. My life finally seemed
to be turning around when I met my second husband. He
allowed me and my children to come and live with him
in his nice home. I even got a job with The United
States Postal Service as a mail carrier.

For the first time in my life, I had a good paying job
with benefits, and became independent. Once again my
marriage started to deteriorate and I ended up
separating from my husband. Since I was working at the
USPS I was able to buy my own home. Now at the age of
47 I was able achieve one of my lifelong goals of home
ownership. After years of working as a mail carrier,
it began to take a toll on my physical health. I
suffered from three bulging discs in my neck after
several slip and falls, I was bitten by a dog, I have
carpal tunnel in both hands, and a pinched nerve in my
lower back that travels down my left leg all the way
down to my foot. Even through all this pain and
suffering, I continually worked overtime to maintain
my mortgage payment. I had no quality of life because
the medications I was prescribed were too strong for
me to take while working. |
 | Sunday was the only
day I had off which I couldn't enjoy because I was
taking my pain meds which caused me to sleep
throughout the entire day. My doctor insisted that I
was no longer able to perform my job, but refused that
my injuries were job related. For that reason I was
denied workmen's compensation and was forced to
resign. With no college education or current job
skills, I was forced to take a low paying job that
enabled me to stay off my feet but couldn't meet the
demands of my bills. Now I'm about to lose the home
I've worked so hard for. My mortgage is behind four
months and the mortagage company is threatening
foreclosure. I am in desperate need of assistance to
be able to keep my home and have a place to stay. I
would appreciate any support, anything you can do to
help my situation.
