PLEASE help me get out of debt!
 |
I am a 40-year-old single woman living in the midwest
and have run into some financial difficulties. After
losing my job 1 1/2 years ago, I began to struggle
financially. I was able to complete my Master's
Degree in Counseling Psychology and am currently
seeking a position. I've had some interviews, no
job offers as of yet. Starting to panic, as I do
not make enough money with my temporary position to
pay all of the regular bills (rent, auto insurance,
utilities, VERY SMALL credit card debt) and put gas in
my car to travel for these interviews. |
 |
I also need new tires for my car and have to make the
decision to use some of my savings ($1400 and quickly
dwindling) and risk not being able to pay the rent or
risk my safety when driving. I will have to
start paying student loans in a few months as well and
am quite worried. My student loan debt is around
$20,000. My current monthly living expenses, not
including gas and food, equal $1500. My temp job
(which I may lose because of needing to take time off
for interviews) pays $10.00, which is considered a
very good wage in t
he area I am currently living. My take
home pay is about $1360 per month (lately a little
less because of the time I need off for interviews). |
 |
I have cut back considerably--do not eat out, buy
generic, etc. I looked into food stamps and
low-income housing as a temporary solution--I do not
have children and make too much money (ha!!!) to
qualify for any assistance. I've been trying to
get another part-time job but have discovered that
most places are not willing to hire me because I am
"overeducated" for the positions. I am
willing to do any job to help me make money, but that
is difficult when I can't even get hired! |
 |
I am quite generous when I am able to give to others
financially and firmly believe in paying it forward.
I simply need a bit of help in the short-term in able
to make it. My fear is not being able to secure
a position in my field as a result of not being able
to get to interviews because of my temp job and the
high cost of gasoline. I "share the
wealth" when I am able and hope to be in a
position to do so again very soon. |
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Please consider donating--any amount is GREATLY appreciated!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth
