Thank you for taking the time to read our story.    At one point, not too long ago, I was happily married with 3 beautiful young children, pursuing our “American Dream”.  But within a few short months, it was gone.  When the real estate market collapsed my business failed. Our deteriorating financial situation and stressful environment at home, led my wife to shack up with her business partner, before filing for divorce, leaving myself and our kids.

Reeling from that heart break, I took what ever job was available at the time; before landing with a cable company.  A  year later the cable company filed for bankruptcy protection and began trimming the workforce, which included me. 

Shortly thereafter, I had an accident that required 2 reconstructive surgeries (knee & hand) and months of rehab.  While recovering from my surgeries (and still unemployed), I was evicted from my apartment, so we now live in the basement of my mothers small home.

And while I  have since recovered from my physical injuries, I still endure the pain of  despair, loneliness, and uncertainty.  Daily, I struggle within myself, searching for the strength of optimism  to carry on; attempting to regain some footing in order to rebuild my life and our family bond.

I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes, which is being treated with  medication. My cobra insurance expired last month and private insurance with my condition was quoted at over $1000  per month.

Additionally, my car payments are behind and I'm in jeopardy of losing my car.  But  even more serious than anything previously mentioned, my children are about to be removed from school.  I have been working with the school to defer some of that expense, while I work through this current crisis; but the school  is unable to extend  any additional time. I must begin making full monthly payments, or remove the kids before Spring semester begins. 

Sadly, this appears unavoidable, as I have still  been unable to secure outside employment.   At this point, against the backdrop of the current recession, with over 6 million Americans out of work; I am less hopeful of finding employment with someone else.  So I have turned my attention to starting a small business (self employment) to pull myself & family out of this free fall.
