I have been struggling with debt for several years now.  I am around 45,000 dollars in debt and do not have the ability to save money for a home since all my extra money is used for daily living expenses and the paying down of our debt.  My debt consist of a combined student loan, car loan, line of credit and a credit card.  My husband, who I married last year is only 5,000 dollars in debt.  I work one job that requires allot of my time making it hard for me to carry a second job for additional money.  My husband is unemployed and unable to collect unemployment.  He is constantly looking for a job with no results.  The dream of ever owning a home seems distant to us.

My husband and I have both suffered minor medical problems.  We have insurance but not everything is covered.  After the insurance paid there share we we were left owing around 1,500 dollars in medical bills, not including the medical bills from my husband before we were married..  My husband was recently admitted into the hospital for an advanced case of cellulitis in his leg.  He was also diagnosed  with having lymphedema in both his legs.  My husband is receiving therapy for his legs and is doing much better now.  I thank all our friends for their prayers and for their support.  I especially thank God because the prayers worked.  The Lord has used the doctors and therapists to help heal my husband from lymphedema.  Though he still has a ways to go I expect great things for him.

I have experienced a few bouts of Atrial fibrillation.  I have been in and out of emergency and each time accumulating more and more medical bills.  My insurance does not cover everything, so I end up in even more debt.  My last episode resulted in a cardioversion where they had to use paddles to put my heart back in normal rhythm.  Since my last episode I have been doing fine.  Neither of us want to go back to the hospital.  My husband and I are trying to change our life style so we can be healthier by eating right and exercising.  Its a slow process but I know it will be worth it in the end.

When it comes to owning a home we are unable to get a loan with zero down.  Of course with todays economy zero down is almost a thing of the past.  The first reason I cannot get a loan is because of my debt to income ratio is too high.  The second reason was because I settled on an account using a debt settlement company which lowered my credit rating to 615.

Everyday I think about what if I did this or what if I did that.  I think about the choices I have made that have resulted in our (mostly my) debt.  I can't dwell in the past.  I feel guilty sometimes because my husband is under so much pressure to try to provide for the family.  He gets so depressed and I feel like I am under so much pressure.  Despite the pressure I pay every extra ounce of money I have to all our bills.  My husband and I both trust God enough to give to our church even though we don't quite have the budget to.  We try to help others when we can but sometimes we can't even do that because of a lack of funds.
